Language acquisition happens in micro-moments of practice. Through consistent language practice, a student can naturally increase his language capacities. This correlates with the processing capabilities of the human brain.When an individual receives information, it gets stored in the sensory memory, where the information is temporarily held. Through repetition, the information can transfer to the long-term memory, where it seems to be retrained permanently and can be retrieved. Language habits are the key pillars of our learning method. We encourage our students to create\nhabits and to practice their language skills daily. Linguaclub helps the students to do so through\nchunks of daily exercises and grammar explanations that correspond to a specific chapter.<\/div>\n

Practicing all of the language skills<\/div>\n
The development of the main cognitive domains forms a base for proper language usage. In order to increase a student’s proficiency in primary language skills, it is important to provide an equal amount of practice for every language skill. Even though the main cognitive domains are interrelated in real communication, students need to give equal importance to each language skill in the learning process. Through the continuous practice of each of the cognitive domains, students will develop strong productive and receptive skills, which will allow them to increase their language use in real-life communication. Although, one of the difficulties experienced by language learners is the gap between passive and active vocabulary knowledge. Passive vocabulary knowledge allows one to recognize a word and comprehend its meaning in a context, whereas active vocabulary knowledge allows retrieval of the needed words from memory in appropriate situations.<\/div>\n
\nOur method is designed in a way, which helps students to actively use all of the words they learn. Student\u2019s active vocabulary skills increase since all of the vocabulary used in the week’s exercises correspond to a specific theme. Through consistent practice of the specific vocabulary, a student can remember and retrieve new words at an appropriate moment.<\/div>\n

I moved to the Netherlands from Russia at a young age, which is why Dutch became my second mother tongue. Foreign languages have surrounded me throughout my whole life and have become a great passion of mine. I am the founder of Linguaclub and a professional teacher. I give English, Russian, and Dutch lessons with over 23 years of experience. I am glad to have been able to make my hobby – foreign languages \u2013 my profession.<\/p>

During the first conversation with a student, I always ask what goal he wants to achieve and how much time he intends to spend on it.
Then I taylor a unique learning plan. The purpose of learning a foreign language is to communicate in this language. The student and I are always aware of this primary goal, but apart from this goal, we set each lesson a small goal, which the student must achieve during the lesson.<\/p>

I was born in the Netherlands, and I proudly was one of our first teachers at Linguaclub. Besides coming from a family of teachers, I have developed a great passion for teaching myself.<\/p>

I started teaching at a secondary school, Cals College IJsselstein, immediately after high school, where I explained various subjects to students. After that, I was promoted to supervisor at the Grafisch Lyceum in Utrecht, where I still helped students with their studies.
In addition to the Dutch language, I have a good command of the English language and even speak a little Russian.<\/p>

I am a dedicated English and Dutch teacher who loves teaching and seeing how students progress over time!<\/p>

Developing the four skills of language (reading, listening, speaking, writing) will be the most important, general goal during the English and Dutch lessons. They will be acquired through fun and different activities, such as role-plays, presentations, authentic literature, educational games, et cetera. However, every lesson also will have a separate goal, which the student needs to achieve during the class. Additionally, other sub-skills, such as cultural awareness, grammar, and vocabulary, will be introduced in the lessons.<\/p>

My native language is Dutch. However, I studied English and Dutch at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. As a result, I learned about the theory of English linguistics, pedagogy, and teacher skills, after which I processed this knowledge in my job as a tutor and teacher.<\/p>

I have been teaching for more than four years at different tutor organizations and schools. I have taught various age groups and levels of English and Dutch. Because of this variety of experiences, I have developed excellent communication skills and can analyze an individual’s needs. I have been teaching English as a foreign language since I graduated from university with a degree in Philology in 1997 and embarked on my teaching career being an English Teacher at school. Then I went on to be a private tutor of the English language before moving on to London, UK to do a professional development course for teachers of English. Also, I continued studying English at Proficiency level as I strongly believe in continuous professional development. Living and studying in the UK for three years provided me with deep knowledge of the British life and culture as well, which contributed to acquiring more expertise in the English language.<\/p>

My name is Sergey and I have been teaching English for over 30 years.
I entered the Irkutsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages not so much out of love for the English language, but because almost all of my family were school teachers and university professors with post graduate degrees \u2013 my grandfather, grandmother, mother, two aunts, and other more distant relatives. So I can safely call myself the successor of the dynasty. Love for English came later.<\/p>

I especially enjoyed teaching English phonetics.
